Education Committee

Mission Statement:

The RWCK Education Committee is a Pro-Active committee committed to educational excellence and defending conservative values in the classroom. We believe the primary purpose of Public Education is to EDUCATE children in Reading, Writing, Math, and Science and we are AGAINST teaching divisive and false indoctrination such as SEL, Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project and AI Privacy Issues. We are passionate in maintaining parental rights and freedoms as it pertains to the education and health of our children.

Our goals include;

  • Creating parent awareness through networking and coalition building,
  • Educating our youth through outreach programs,
  • Supporting Freedom clubs within the high schools,
  • Educating and encouraging community participation in the legislative process that effect school policies at the local, state and national level.

Together we will work to restore a healthy education for our children to produce a new generation of resilient, critical thinkers who can carry forward the torch of freedom.  Join us!  If you would like to work with us on this important project, please send an email to info@republicanwomensclubofkaty.com if interested in this committee.

Networking and Coalition Building:

  • Support Teachers - Create a community of conservative educators in RWCK and other conservative educators within the district that agree with our goals and desire a support system.  Design a forum of communication between these individuals to discuss issues happening in their schools.
  • Parent Education - Raise awareness of parents to pay attention to their children’s homework, reading list, computer programs, etc.  Create a brochure to distribute giving parents specifics on what to look for and how to address their teachers.
  • Organize – Encourage attendance to KISD School Board meetings and encourage parents to speak on issues happening within the classroom.  Raise awareness and support the conservative board members.
  • Update – Provide an annual (or bi-annual) “State of the District” report through email or other means of communication and/or offer an annual gathering (breakfast or lunch) for teachers, parents & members.

Youth Outreach & Freedom Clubs:

  • Freedom (High School) Groups – Assist High Schools in organizing clubs.  Support the clubs and their teacher sponsors through scholarship programs to youth summits and other conservative learning experiences, create educational and award opportunities (perhaps through corporate sponsorships) that encourage debate and public speaking and other forms of participation.
  • Constitution Day – Offer a “Free” Constitution Day to KISD schools.  Provide awards and prizes for participating students.
  • Legislative Field Trips - Organize youth field trips to Austin during the legislative session and other Historical Texas sites to appreciate Texas history.

Engagement on Legislative Issues:

  • Learn, educate, and report on roles of the State Board of Education, Teachers Education Agency and other agencies that effect learning.
  • Inform parents and teachers on legislative issues effecting education.
  • Organize lobbying efforts for parents and teachers.
  • Read textbooks, recruit and organize members to participate in this effort.
